StickyBits

I just finished reading an interesting Techcrunch article about a new app called Stickybits. I’m sure this will be a huge hit and after reading about it and downloading it, this is one of my new favorite apps.

In a nutshell, StickyBits generates unique bar codes that can be scanned by your phone, and then you can attach digital content to that specific barcode. Basically, you can add digital threads to real-life objects. Once you scan a barcode on something, you can attach a photo, video, audio, or text information to that object. You can also add GPS coordinates to where you acquired the object.

I could see myself using this app in the following ways:

  • attaching a barcode to the back of my business card to attach digital content
  • attaching to the back of pictures to link video and other information
  • making the best scavener hunt known to man

The other cool thing about the product is that it is free. You can download digital barcodes for free or you can buy a pack of them for only $10.

The picture in this post is a unique bar code that I made.  Download the app and scan it to see what I attached to it. Or be lame and don’t.
